welcome to my project space. this is the place where i informally post what i have been making and doing. click above on projects to see my work.
i am an artist, a photographer and i make jewelry. i explore process and materials, experimenting with old process photography, drawing and painting using found scraps and waste. i collect old metal, broken objects, fragments of paper, bottle caps, ticket stubs, ephemera, pieces of string, candy wrappers, shards of glass, dust, candle drippings- everything is useful! i use the found artifacts as inspiration, subjects, themes, material, mediums and surfaces for my photographs, drawings, paintings, collages and jewelry.
the work on this website is the result of my process of finding scraps of metal, wood or even a weed and making something with it.
still life with mirrors is my ongoing photography project- to design and build my own camera, a wooden box camera similar to cameras used in the early 20th century by itinerant street photographers. i’ve started by making a series of black and white silver gelatin still lifes (using scraps from a local factory) with my newly designed camera before taking it out on the road to make portraits and streetscapes.
paper-fractured drawings+notes to self are made with old letters, notes and scrap paper. my rust monoprint series is made with rust, copper and graphite dust. 26x26, is a limited edition risograph print series made using old magazine clippings. constant comments/and now a word from our sponsors are more of my drawings and prints. nettle ink is a series of monoprints done with ink made from street and garden debris. a few lines are line drawings of plants i’ve collected, the drawing series called ice is made with snow, ice and paint pigment on paper. painted words are my paintings on derelict billboards. the sticks and stones jewelry lab is jewelry i make from almost anything including waste from a musical instrument factory, wrecked cars, old glass bottle necks, scrap paper mixed with porcelain, street debris and rocks, scrap stainless steel and scrap aluminum and wire from factories. the jewelry is highly wearable!
i add new work regularly. occasionally i also add work from my archives.
